autobahn,
the oil you are using is fine. any 20 or 30 will be ok and not hurt the engine.

shure you guys say that if ford says 5w20 then it must be the right thing, i just think íf ford sells those vehicles in countries without 5w20 but still gives the full warranty, it can´t be to serious. i hope my english is good enough to reflect what i´m trying to say. i dont want to sound like an smarta.. i just want take some guys fear away to hurt there engines if they use anything but 5w20.
Sie schreiben English doch fast perfect!

5w20? 5w30? Fast kein unterschied.

Wo wohnen Sie dann eigentlich in Deutschland?

Tut mir leid. Mein Deutsch is doch schlecht. 'Hab viel vergessen.

They write English nevertheless nearly perfect! 5w20? 5w30? Nearly none differentiated. Where do you then actually live in Germany? Wrong does to me. My German is nevertheless badly. 'Much forgot. Reply With Quote.

dixieF150scab - guess you didn´t forget to much of it!! i´m from the western part, close to the dutch and belgian border by the citys of aachen and cologne. f150 have never officially been sold by ford in germany, so my chances to chat with people about my loved truck beside the www. are few.

I made them clarify that they didn't actually mean 5w20.. they said, nope, we use 5w30.

my question.. the manual and the motor both say use 5w20.

am I ok to leave the 5w30 in it, or do I need to change it out?

thanks
5W 30 is perfectly fine 5W 20 -5W 30 REASON THEY USE THE HEAVIER WEIGHT PREVENTS WEAR AND TEAR ON THE ENGINE PREVENTING THE PHAZERS FROM BREAKING DOWN YOU'LL GET MORE LONGEVITY OUT OF THE 5.4 TRITON MOTOR

Can't help as mine is an 01, where apparently a 5-20 to 5-30 did occur. I know in the old days, we upped viscosity for high mileage oil users. I have used a mix to create 5-25 or 7-1/2-35 in cars and trucks.
