Idle Rpm's all over the place??

i have an 04 F150 Screw (56,000) and have noticed the past few months that the RPMs are all over the place from 400-1000 rpm and anywhere in between. With the truck running, and no A/C on and i just barely tap the gas the RPM drops down to about 400.... then it rev's itself up to almost 1000 and settles back down to about 700-800. The other night while driving, I cam up to a red light and th truck actually dies on me. She started back up with out trouble and hasnt died since but the RPM's are still screwy? Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem!

Tom

First thing I'd look for is a vacuum leak. Have you replaced anything having to do with the intake recently???
