I prefer Sunoco or Citgo although when price was at its worst I used Irving as well.

my milage averages out no matter what brand gas i use.. i just notice that my truck runs better with mobil

also, my dad used to hual the stuff back when he drove a tanker for Eagle and found out who has the "better" gas and for florida atleast, its mobil.

mobil puts more additive in there gasoline then most other brands.

Thank you for all the advice. I never expected to get 20 MPG just wanted to know if what I was getting was right, and by the looks of it, it is. As far as the way I drive I don't drive like that because I'm afraid of hurting my truck or because I want better gas mileage. That's just the way I drive. I try not to be in a hurry and I have no need to be first off the line. But once again thank you for all your help.

well if it makes you feel any better the 4.6 is bullet proof in most the these peoples opinions..

i for one think the 5.4 is just as good but as you can see there's a 550+ post thread on it.

why did you get the 4.6? if it was for milage then you will be disapointed all the ways around because youll get the same milage as a 5.4 without the extra power the 5.4 has..

although i should consider that the 5.4 costs more so

like its been stated, your milage should pick up as the engine breaks in.
you dont have to warm up the engine before you start driving.

another thing i forgot to ask is does your gas stations use a winter blend? as far as i know winter blend fuel cause a drop in milage so....

nice truck and color

Thank you. I got the 4.6 becuase I really didn't need the bigger engine or the 4x4 so I couldn't justify the cost. My choice was get the bigger engine and 4x4 and no options or get all the options I want with the smaller engine and 2x4. Since I don't tow anything and I don't really offroad the choice was the latter. I don't know if my station uses a winter blend or not. The only reason I use Shell is because I have their gas card. I can live with my gas mileage at 13-14 mpg as long as that is the correct mpg. The only time I would have a problem with it is if everyone else was getting 17-18 mpg. But by the sounds of it my truck is normal and that's ok with me. As far as the warming of the truck, I do that for me because I hate the cold. I am originally from FL so I'm freezing in VA right now. Once again thank you for all the advice and help with my question.

That said, your engine does need to break in, and hopefully the mileage will improve.

My thoughts exactly.

You want 30 mpg's? Get a focus.

Why don't you go back and read my friggin posts before you start yapping at the jaw. I'm not complaining about my MPG I wanted to make sure I was getting the same as everyone else here. I had read a few post about people getting 17-18MPG and I wanted to know why I wasn't getting the same thing. I know I bought a truck and I know I'm not gonna get great fuel economy. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with my truck. Is that ok with you or should I PM you everytime I want to post something and get your permission? Oh and if you need to learn how to read let me know I'll be more than happy to help, I'm a humanitarian.

well according to my ford book the 4.6 should supposedly get 15mpg city and 19 mpg highway.

btw driving the truck will warm it up faster.

but like i said your wasting fuel by idling so take that into consideration.

otherwise, yes your engines fine. getting 1 to 2 mpg less then whats posted on the sticker can be normal.

Keep on truckin.
