98 Expedition OBD port.
98 Expedition OBD port.
Hey guys,
I was a member of this board a few years ago when I had an F150. I sold it a couple of years ago. I forgot my old username. I bought a 98 Expedition a few months ago with a 5.4. This morning it developed a studer in it when th engine is lugging or pulling aconstant rpm while moving. When it studders if you mash on the throttle it will go away. As I pulled intot he parking lot the Check Engine started flashing. I looked under the dash and didn't see an OBD port. I remembered this board on the way in to work. COuld use some help.
Is the 98 OBDII?
Where is it located?
Anybody hav any ideas? I did a quick search before I had to got to work.
Thanks,
Larry

The test port is down there. Keep looking. It's required (by law) to be withing a certain distance of the steering column. IIRC, it's above the gas pedal on my 97.
You have a garden-variety misfire. 98% of the time, it's due to a spark plug and COP, sometimes induced by moisture.
Once you know which cylinder is misfiring, it gets a lot easier to fix.

When I did my search this morning I found a post describing close to what I had. He got a P03xxx. The he came back and said he had a CP4. It took me a few minutes to realize it was a coil pack I think on No.4. Either that or a plug.
The truck had 160k when I bought it. This is my first Expedition. The truck is tight and runs good. I've owned a 97 F150 and a 99 F250 TD. I don;t care what anyone says, FOrd builds darn good trucks. I'll never buy import.
Thanks Steve.
