If you were me...

Heres my dilemma. I have a 93 XL Big Six. I also have an 88 5.0/AODE sitting about 5 feet from the truck. The truck is used for almost everything a truck can be used for. I mud, tow, daily drive, and occasionally a race here and there. The engine stats are as follows (as advertised) 4.9L 300ci I6 145hp@3,400 265ft/lbs@2,000 5.0L 302ci V8 225hp@4000 300ft/lbs@3,200 . If this were your truck, which would you choose and why? Just looking for some input, and opinions!

Personally I don't care for the looks of those years, so I will base it off the engine. Going with the engine I like the 5.0 more although both are solid. Its just that the 5.0 has more power and its a V8. There are also allot more mods out there for a 5.0 as well.

Well, as my info says, I live in northern Indiana, the insurance is below 100/month on both, 2WD, and I am more than mechanically capable of swapping and maintaining. And what do you mean think practical? Both get the same mileage almost (haha, which is none) and if you mean older so the engines may be old, I've owned the 5.0 engine for about 5 years now, and it had 58K when I pulled it from my car. The 4.9 is whats in the truck and it's pushing 160K altho I've been tol the I6 will outlast most any other gas powered engine on the arket so, thats really the only thing that has been keeping me thinking. Stiraight engines last longer simply becuase there is less were on the cylinder walls an piston rings (assuming all variables are the same)
