Melted My Vacuum lines
Melted My Vacuum lines
Sorry for the long post but heres what happened,
OK, About a month or so ago I Put new GMS coils Denso plugs a Air force One , 75mm Throttle body, New Troyer tuned X cal 2 + new IAC valve , + Egr, Etc, Etc, on my truck, so after I'm finished working on the motor I accidentally routed the vacuum lines wrong, and i melted them I managed to repair them so they work but I really would like to get the proper ones, I had gone to the dealer to see about getting new ones but the ones he got in were different he said if i had a stamping # off the part ( The # on the tag of the harness) he could cross reference it and order me the right ones, but my tag is no longer on the part my question is were the Heck can I find the right vacuum lines?? I don't mind the repaired lines on the truck but it makes me feel like a butcher for melting them, I really would like to get them replaced
BTW, truck is a 98 5.4 L code motor.
Anyone?

Hi!!
Same Motor. Well, I got mine replaced twice in 200,000 miles. The tag on the Vac lines read *NO4* and a bar code . The bar code is shown in the pic - flipside of that is where these numbers came from.

Hope that helps.

if theyre denso iridium plugs, take them out. they burn too hot for our engines. unless youve got some monster pushing huge amounts of power and torque then theyre only doing more harm then good.
Curious , what benefit do have with 75mm Throttle body, New Troyer tuned X cal 2 . I would order that tonight if I new that it would be better than what I have stock lol . I was under the impression without PI heads for the 98 the X cal 2 is pointless.
jbrew, Thanks for the Tag # on the harness, the one the dealer has Is there any other tag on it with any other #'s at all? The one at the dealer had 2 tag's thats why i ask,
I was told from Troyer the X cal 2 is fine I need a tuner anyhow, the only thing you cant do is change the tire size on it with this truck 98's have a speedo gear in the tranny, and vs 99 -up have the vss in the rear diff and you can use it on the 99-up to change tire size on them, as for the throttle body I got it for 100 bucks used so i thought Id try it along with the other mods intake exhaust Etc, but with Mike's Tunes and all the mods the truck actually goes when you step on it now not like it was before,
Oh and chiefFX4, i got the plugs from troyer and no probems at all, Thier one heat range colder than stock

how the heck did u melt vacume lines?? the intake manifold wont get hot enough to melt them unless the engine overheated... but dont waste ur money on 100 dollar vacume lines from ford just get some vacume hose from ur local auto parts store.

jbrew, thanks any how,,, I think i figured out why I'm having issues getting the right lines From what I can tell is there seems to be a updated set of lines for this motor along with a different PCV tube and a intake elbow, from what i can tell by your pic you have the newer set of lines on your truck

No, it didn't overheat the engine, I routed them wrong too close to the EGR by accident and to make a long story short i messed them up

Try a different dealer if you want the stock ones - A good parts guy will find the right ones , I didn't have any numbers with me when I ordered mine Wait!! Come to think of it they had a set in stock the first time lol
You can try the salvage yard or eBay , you would be suprised what you can find on eBay.

But in what's essentially a stock motor, it won't help at all. In fact, you will probably notice a drop in torque and what's more, the throttle-body can stick shut from vacuum pressure. Aggressive cams pull a much lower vacuum pressure in the intake, so running a larger TB isn't a problem. But on a stocker, with that high vacuum, many have had a it stick.
Had my hands full with trans recenty- finally got that resolved - I'm content with her just being healthy at the moment anyway lol.

Well , my plan is to either put PI heads or a set of Patriot heads with different cams eventually, but at that point why not freshen up the bottom end as well, and the thoughts of a lightning motor swap has crossed my mind as well, but first my lift is going in when spring hits 6" on 35's probably be running 4:56 gears as well, but first things first
I heard good things about Patriot heads. You'll make plenty of HP with 456's for the 35's. Running my stock 353's. Like to go with 4/10's and mildly(lol) supercharge my stock setup - less work , but pricey. I think the pro-charger with a stage 2 inter-cooler would put me just under my stock injector limits. I wouldn't have to get a tune right away , but most likely would get one down the line.
