Engine Knocking

Greetings, it sounds like I have a rod going and I was hoping to be able to check that easily by pulling the oil pan and looking at the crank...but before i got dirty I wanted to see if that was possible.

Thoughts?

It's a 2001 Lightning

B4 my F-150 engines knocks only when it's still cold but lately even my engine is hot it still knocks at 0.7 or 0.8 RPM (Park) 0.5 (Drive) A/C off. Then yesterday my while driving A/C malfuntion, the Air blows in the defogger/floor even in A/C & Max A/C. When I turn off the engine and start it the Check Engine lighted. I tried filling it up and driving it in 3 dirve cycles like the manual says but the check engine doesn't turn off

Temp doesnt matter, rpm doesnt matter either really although its louder with higher rpms. It's loudest at the no-load rpm.

My father and I took off the main belt and the blower belt and the knock was still there so im pretty sure its a rod berring.

There's no way too take the oil pan off without lifting the engine up a good bit...at least 10 inches or so.

Yeah, and the only way to check for a rod knock is use plastigauge and measure the clearance on each rod...
