New E-fan setup!
Do you think these would make a good E-fan setup?

HI!... I highly recommend the DERALE electric fans. I've been running two of their 16 inch fans for over 7 years now with no problems. At the time I bought mine, I got them from SUMMIT RACING for $95.00(U.S) each, plus another $45.00(U.S) for the PERMA-COOL electronic thermal controller. Now I just run the two fans with manual switches to turm them on and off. Rarely even use the fans at all due to my truck runs so cool. I believe the DERALE fans now go for about $120.00(U.S) each.

Neal, how do you have those things mounted? From what I can tell it looks like you used the plastic push through zip tie mounts that most people seem to be afraid of. How long have those fans been mounted like that? Have you had any problems with them rubbing through the core? I used them on my '98 4.2, but they were only there for about a year or so before I traded it in so I have no idea how well they've held up.

"An electric engine-cooling fan built for the demands of your big truck, and then some. This fan -the most powerful on the market- is the answer to the overheating problems caused by slow in-city driving or heavy towing, and solves the cooling problems that occur with body lifts. This unit responds based on cooling need (not just engine speed) to maintain optimum engine temperature. Up to 17 additional horsepower -dyno proven- is transferred to the wheels by removing the belt driven fan and fan clutch. Decreased load on the engine results in improved fuel economy - up to 2-3 mpg. Pulls a whopping 5,500 cfm."

MeanGene, I agree mostly with what you said, but I think the hp gain is probably going to be a little more. I'm going to say it's probably closer to 10hp. You also have to take into consideration the drag just from the fan turning and having to move the air along with all the points you mentioned.
