melted head

so I gave the truck a bit of gas and there was a popping under the hood, I was doing about 100km/hr
so what the hell is going on?
I let off the gas and the noise is gone, I hit the gas and it is back...it sounds bad

I pull over the gauges are all good

I pop the hood nothing looks amiss, so I start it, everything looks good, i grab the throttle cable and give it a tug....popping again and the coil pack for the 3rd plug back on the passenger side is bouncing around

damn the dreaded spit plug has happened....I grab my tools and I have to unthread the plug out what the hell, the boot for the coil pack is melted, the sping is hanging out of the plug hole
I get the plug out and it is burnt up, the top is melted the bottom center is missing

so I hitch a ride with a buddy, pick up a coil pack and sparkplugs, my dad's f250 and my brothers trailer

I put the plug in and drive it on the trailer and we get home.

I pull the heads off (and yeah you can leave the motor in the truck)

I thinking somehing is really wrong but maybe a time sert insert kit will save the day....

I guess not the head is melted right beside the plug and there is a pretty big gap

so I need to replace the heads and I'm not putting Ford ones in....so what is available for this motor?

I have been out of the hp game for a few years the last thing I rebuilt was a 84 2.2 turbo for my daytona....

I just don't care anymore....i want it to go from point a to b with only maint,

thanks
Merv

Ford is the only game in town for heads. No one casts heads but Ford. You can go aftermarket but they all use Ford castings. I would try to get 03 MY heads as they have more threads for the plugs. If not you can have the plug holes sleeved. Fox lake does head work http://www.foxlakeracing.com/
