97 4.6 towing

97 4.6 towing

I have a 97 f150 flareside extracab 2 wheel drive with a 4.6,auto trans. with oil cooler . I want to get a camper but don't know how much the truck can pull. can anybody tell me how much can I tow with my truck. thanks

You can pull a tractor trailer, so the more important question is how much can you pull and stop safely. Before I got the diesel, dad's 97 would handle 10k pretty good, but thats with a M5OD. I'd only trust an auto to do that with a big cooler AND a temp gauge.

yah i think the 5-6000 dry weight trailers are good range to aim for.

that is about what i thought it was around 5000 to 5500lbs to be safe, thanks
