Enhancing performance

Got a 03 supercrew 5.4/auto, 85k. Its got the knocking in the morning during startup and throughout the day. I have read these posts for a while and it doesn't seem like anyone can give a good reason for this characteristic. I was thinkin about putting a throttlebody spacer and k/n intake system on. Any thoughts or suggestions? Has anyone done this in the past and how did it work out for you?

everyone will tell you the spacer is junk, but i have tried it and i like it. there is a guy selling them on ebay for $30 shipped, check them out. as for the intake, you cant go wrong with a FIPK.

Agree... Spacers are worthless except on carbureted engines. an intake is worth the money. I have a volant, and wouldnt change it.

I'm not sure what is causing your knocking but a FIPK & spacer will not fix it. :-/

I'm not trying to correct the knock by installing any of this. Also how common is this piston slap and what are some corrective measures if any?

knock

Im not trying to correct the knock by doing any of this, just wondering if doing any of this would hurt anything as far as the knocking noise. What are some corrective measures to this knocking noise if any, and how common is it?
