Fuel filter help 1997 F-150

I'm havin one hell of time trying to get the old (original) fuel filter off! Can anybody give me some advice or trick to getting this thing off?? I have purchased the special removal tool. It seem to go in all of the way but I cant get the lines to move away from the filter????

Push the tool in then push the coupling together exerting addtional presure on the tool then pull it apart.
PS have a lrge towel there to catch the fuel because about 8 oz of gas is going to come out

that filter is a real pain, really make sure the tool is in there all the way. took me about 20 mins to get mine off first time.

it a pain alright , I use this little aluminum line puller , you get a little more leverage. Once you get the tool in there , jerk the line towards the filter then back the other way real quick... That works the best for me.

Good Luck
