I don't really know what that means but I will search for a solution. The truck still runs bad. I pulled the negative battery cable off last night while I was changing the coil pack. The CEL hasn't come back on yet but by the way it is running I am sure it is only a matter of time. The wind picked up today so it is too damn cold to do anything with it tonight. I let it run for quite a long time last night after the seafoam injection. It seemed to be running fine by the time I went out and shut her down but when I started it this morning it was back to running rough. It idles rough and while driving at slow speeds.
Wish I had a heated barn to work in...

 

Hey Dan , did you try replacing #1 plug , check your fuses ?

 

I ordered a DPFE and a PCV last night. The truck seems to be idling a little better lately but still not normal. The P3401 code is a non-existant code as far as I can tell from searching the web. I know it has something to do with the air intake so I am going to exhaust all those avenues first. Some of you are probably saying that I am replacing parts when they are not needed. I agree but with over a hundred thousand miles, I have no problem replacing those parts. They have done their time and I have no problem with it.
I will keep you all updated and thanks again for all the useful input.

 

It been a long time since I worked on a v6 - they use to have runners, I think two - like a butterfly valves in the manifolds - the runner controller use to be on the back of the motor . Maybe now they run off sensor's. I think this is a possibility , I don't know graspen lol.

In your bowser search bar, put on the following.....FORD DTC P3401.. and see what comes back.
It's on my paper list of Ford codes.
Your engine PCM just doesnot dream it up P3401 especially if it repeats after clearing the codes.
Hint: go the the SCT site and printout the Ford specific list.
You will see codes that you never thought existed, even though they obviously don't apply to every engine such as the differences between a v6, a v10 or a diesel etc.
Usually a v6 program would not set a code for a diesel since the list has all the codes, you would realize this.

I'm not trying to be a hard *** but to get people to think a little so they can help themselves.

I don't have to go back, I wasn't' much help I know . I came into the thread when he was cleaning his throttle body and gave some useful tips on cleaning before he put it back together.
Kinda escalated from there, no one was helping and I'm not familiar with that engine as I stated a few times.
Dan asked questions , I didn't ignore, I gave the best answer I had. Hoping someone else would chime in at that point.
