random misfire??

well my 4.6 01 expy started missing the other day. i changed out the sparkplugs and it cleared it up but only for a little while. my service engine light turned on and the truck started missing again. well i took it to autozone and they told me it has a random misfire on cylinder #7. i thought it was the sparkplug but i replaced all of them and i bought them pregapped. i think it might be that black little deal that sits on top of the spark plug? anyone think that might be right?or had a similar problem??

also which cylinder is #7? is it the one on the back on the pass. side?or are they numbered different? from how i can see it i would guess counting from the front of the truck it is 1-3-5-7 on the pass. side and 2-4-6-8 on the driver side? right?

any help would be GREATLY appreciated! my wife is almost due and i hate worrying the the truck is going to die out on me or something!!

Probably a bad coil - the thingy that sits on top of the plug, yes.

Cylinders are numbered, from front to rear, 1-4 is on the passenger's side, 5-8 on the driver's side.

Liston , the best thing you can do given your perdiciment. Go back up to Auto Zone , Purchase 1 coil and a manual - Haynes or Chiltons , for your truck , then have at it.
With book in hand follow there instructions you'll be done inside of two hours -Remember #7 's on the drivers side, second one up from the firewall.

Good luck
