I primed it like blue suggested right before I tried to start it the first time after putting the pump in. I also checked a few of the plugs yesterday to see if they had been fuel fouled after a while of trying to start it, they seemed fine. What really concerns me know is the backfiring. Makes me think like triton that this might be a serious problem. Do you think using one of the Snap-on diagnostic computers will help pinpoint a problem. My buddy has one so maybe it can shed more light on the problem.

I really don't think so unless you really abused it . It's a 5.4 - 200,00 miles on mine compresion beautiful , doesn't burn a drop of oil, doesn't leak. I take the top end apart every winter when I'm off and hand clean - New injectors and COP's is all that I changed out.
About that misfire at 2000 rpm . If you have a bad COP you truck will run the crappiest just after shifting in to overdrive - RPM+Load within this part of the drivecycle is a misfireing coils favorite spot, you would notice your truck is running very bad. (as soon as you shift into OD from that point on you truck should run the chittiest). If not , most likley a COP isn't the issue.

I don't think I can unless your right down the street lol - I would be pulling it apart to see whats up. You pulled the plugs and they looked normal - you not getting fuel to her. It took forever when I installed injectors. Di you check you fuel shutoff to make sure it didn't pop? - that happens ..Poor a little gas ddown the cylinders ti confirm fuel problem. CHECK that switch , drivers side kickpanal..

Yes I checked the shutoff, I forgot to mention that.Power in overdrive is fine except at 200 rpms and about 70 mph with no load. If your pullng up a hill at 70 its fine just does it when you have been at 70 for 15, 20 sec or so. I was told by a friend it might be a crankshaft or camshaft position sensor. He used to work for a ford dealership but he wasnt available to come look at it first hand.

Ok it now seems my problem is its not getting fire. Atleast not steady fire. Changed the camshaft sensor with no help. Got a new crankshaft sensor too but havent put it in yet. Hope this does it if not I guess its time for a can of gas and a phone call to the insurance compny.

LOL...no its not out of gas I have pressure in the fuel rails but I agree it will probably end up being something small, just wish I had a clue what. Going to change the crankshaft position sensor and see what that does. If it doesnt fix it I guess Ill have to cry for a minute and try something else lol.

check the electrical connection to the crankshaft position sensor. I had the same problem a couple of years ago. A little contact cleaner and electrical tape and no more issues.

I had similar symptoms: Hard to start some mornings and missing(cutting off) at 70 mph.

Good Luck

Im pretty sure I found the problem. When I was changing the crank postion sensor I noticed a little damage on the wire loom. Closer inspection revealed one of the wires going to the CPS had been cut due to wearing on the belt. Going to put on a solderless butt splice and put it back together. Im pretty sure this time I will be in business. Much thanks to jbrew and the others that helped out.
