Cylinder # 1 not firing

Cylinder # 1 not firing

My 1997 f150 5.4 has a bad miss, code say cylinder#1 not firing,any ideas.

Most likely you have a bad coil. I would replace the coil and also the sparkplug and see if it clears up. Atleast it is an easy one to get to passenger side of engine first one in front. Unplug the coil, use a 7mm socket to take the bolt out that holds the coil on and remove the coil. Then remove the spark plug with a 5/8 sparkplug socket. You could disconnect the battery after the repair to clear the code but make sure you let it idle for a little bit and then drive it some to let the computer relearn adaptive strategy. After that you should be good to go.

Yeah it will be on the left side of the engine if you are looking at it from the front. (passenger side ) you will see the fuel injector which is probably yellow with a grey flat connector and the coil will have a black square connector. The coil it self is black and round at the top. The release tab for the coil is on the bottom side of the connector if im not mistaken but it might be on top of it also. Push the tab down and slide the connector back and it will come off.

Your the Man, it was just like you said right down to the 7 mm socket.....
