Check for vacuum leaks and/or dirty IAC...for starters.

If it only acts up on a cold start is likely the iac valve, it is located on the drivers side of the throttle body is controls the air flow around the throttle plate at idle. It will act up on a cold start because the rod inside of it gets dirty and cannot open the valve far enough for a fast idle.
