850hp

Dose anyone know who to call to buy a crate motor with 800 + hp for a ford prerunner Bronco
My brother-in-law who's has a 600 hp 351 stroker motor in it now wants to step it up a few notches!! Hes told me to look around. I found one guy named John Kaase racing engines. But I would like some other opinions.

Motor

This might sound kind of odd, but you might try ebay. You will be suprised how many builders and custom motors are out there. You can email them and have them build one to your spec or check this one out just as an idea.

Cool, bieng from Michigan, take a look at Holbrook racing engines, I believe around Livonia, or Livernois Motorsport. I've dealt with Chris Holbrook about 6 years ago when just leaving Stu Evans and he is top notch, great guy from alot of experience. Another to try would be Paul's High Performance in Jackson, or Alternative Motorsports. I would do a search on these names, not sure of the websites but try Holbrook first.

I've run a few motors and rotating assemblies from DSS and have always been pleased. I had a crank from them come in scratched up once, they replaced it lightning fast.

I have to say, no motor I've ever got from them ever spun a bearing or lost compression in 7 cylinders. LOL

If I don't buy it from them, I buy from a local shop called Auto Shop. The owner, Alfred Weiss (sp?) used to do all the machine work and heads (including porting) for Eddie Hill and a couple other fuelers.

what is the budget?

ford has a crate 514 that makes 625 hp for $8.1k,

chevy has a 572 crate that make 720 hp for $13k

i would guesstimate you are looking a $18k to $20k for the longblock and a 550 - 650 cubic inch motor.

John Kaase is probably one of the best big block ford builders in the world. he worked with ford and developed the current racing big block 385 ford head.

i hope your brother-in-law has deep, deep pockets as i would guess you are talking a $25k - $30k motor/trans after all the accessories are added.

My Father in law has a machine shop (Mattingly Machine), which specializes in Drag Racing and Truck and Tractor Pull engines. You could give him a call, but we are in Kentucky. He does both alcohol and gas engines. He is involved in Drag racing, Truck pulling, drag racing boats, and building Harleys.
