How do you disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core? Looks like it might take a special tool, cannot see much as the connections are under the cowl. Any help would be appreciated.

no special tool required. I did it by just lying down across the front of the truck so that I could use my right hand to reach under there comfortably. If you feel toward the back of the hose, you will feel two tabs on each hose. In a perfect world these could just be pressed down and BAM the hoses pop off. Mine was a little more difficult and required some finagling to get them off. It CAN be done just by squeezing those two tabs down at the same time and pulling on the hose.
