Dual Pass Radiators & Stock Water Pumps....
I have a 2001 Supercrew 4.6L and I'm upgrading my radiator. My question is, will the stock waterpump survive pushing coolant through a dual-pass radiator? If the stock water pump won't pump the coolant, or won't live, what's the alternative? What are the pros and cons of running a dual pass radiator?.
This is for an offroad truck that runs in high temps under large loads for extended periods of time.
thanks!

I would read this first. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=100862
The trucks come from the factory with single pass rads. You can always get a two row. My 2000 came with a single row and when the rad gave out I replaced it with a 2 row. How much is it going to cost you to have a dual pass made? As far as the pump being enough I am not sure. There are two options that I know of, a cobra water pump or an electric one.

Believe it or not, a dual pass would be considerably cheaper for me because it's an off the shelf part from one of our sponsors. It's essentially free, a single pass, 2-row radiator I'd have to pay for.
The reason I ask is I have read conflicting stories on the matter. I have read it can require up to 4x the amount of pressure to pump the coolant through a double pass radiator, and I could see that possibly having detrimental effects to a waterpump not designed for it. It doesn't make much sense to me, I could see a little increase in demand on the pump, but 4x? I would rather error on the side of caution though, hope someone can shed some light on the subject for me.
