Can someone tell how to tell what size engine I have? Where do I find this information on the truck.

 

Take a look under the hood. On the plastic cover over the intake, it should state what size...either 4.6 or 5.4. Also, you can check the white smog sticker under the hood as well. That should tell you also.

I looked in both places no sign of engine size

 

I assume you have the 04 new model, not the heritage. If so, you can tell by the air cleaner. If a 5.4, the air cleaner will be a flat type that sits right on top of the intake. If a 4.6, the air cleaner ill be a round type that is in the air tube to the right of the engine.

 

Must be new to ford Trucks 4.6 or 5.4 least we are winning them over

Look at the 8th digit of the vin. If it is a 5 you have a 3 Valve 5.4. If not it is a 4.6.

I'd like a 5.8L in a new truck... Then again I've been accused of being old school. Aww shoot, should just go for an FE.

You can also look for a sticker on the driver's side valve cover. Mine says 5.4L on it.

 

does it atleast say vtec on the valve covers? is it a K series or a B series motor?

hmm... kindof an odd question when you buy the truck right on the msrp, or your insurance it even states your engine, but its on your Throttle Body cover

yah but a hemi is a 5.7 not 5.8 paul.......

Mine says it on my TB cover, but its off the truck and at my parents house
