Aftermarket fuel pump question

I am in the proccess of building an 04 f150 off-road truck project. I am replacing the stock fuel tank with a Fuel Safe 44gal racing fuel cell. This requires me to ditch the stock fuel pump and replace it with an aftermarket external fuel pump (Bocsh). I've been told this will not work because the f150 uses a single fuel line (not a return system). I was told the fuel pump will only work for a few thousand miles. Can anyone tell me why this is the case?
Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jason

The factory non-return pump is a pulse type/on-off pump with no external regulator. it senses fuel presure in the rail and adjusts duty cycle of pump to compensate. check on the mustang web sites and forums for answers to turning this into a retun style system. it has been done annd continues to be done and works without a hitch.

Why can't I keep the pulse type set-up it has now? Are there any external fuel pumps on the market that will allow me to run the rest of the fuel system I already have in place?
