2002 f150 4.6L Engine Whistle

I have a 2002 f150 with a 4.6L. When the vehicle is driven in the cold at speeds usually over 45 mph there is a whistle coming from the engine compartment. When you let of off the accelerator the noise stops. This started last winter and hasn't reoccured all summer until now. Temperatures at which this occurs is below 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C.

Thanks for any help

If the noise sounds anything like a foghorn, it's your IAC (idle air control) valve.

I've got pretty much the same damn thing, kinda quit chasing it just learning to deal with it until it shows it's ugly face one day. I'm thinking it's the torque converter or idler pulley. One day I will try to see if it's the idler pulley, easiest and cheaper than the t.c. Whatever it is, it depends on engine speed not driven speed like a leak in the windshield at a certain speed etc. If I ever fix it, I will post a celebration thread because I'm just spinning my wheels in the snow trying to figure it out and getting nowhere.
