New F-150 Owner - Help!

So, I bought a 1997 F150 Lariat on a whim (I needed something more than my old '75 BMW 2002) at an auction recently only to discover some major engine problems (epoxy on the engine - eeek!). So I'm thinking now about an engine swap (assuming I can't talk the auction house into working something out...considering I still haven't gotten the title after 24 days...)

So, assuming I do keep the truck, I'd like to swap in something with a little more power (5.4 Triton or similar). How complex are we talking here? Same engine mounts at least? How much of the electronics need to be replaced? I've done a swap with friends on a 1984 BMW 325 before, but having my Lariat with the FX4 means the engine bay is all little higher and tougher to work on.

1. Anyone have any good suggestions and/or cheap engines?
2. Anyone have a garage and experience with swaps in GA/SC?

Thanks all!

Randall

well if the height is an issue for you, pull the wheels off, and lower the truck and put it on stands, just before the rotors touch the ground. You should be able to get a good 5-6" drop that way.
