OK, I got bad news today. It sounds like I need new main bearings on 1989 5.0L, possibly camshaft bearings as well. It sounds like if it's just mains, a shop could do it without pulling the engine, but the camshaft bearings would warrant an engine yank. I'm debating the pros & cons of fixing vs. engine swap. Salvage yard has a low mileage (<50k) 5.0L for $500. Anyone gone through this & found the most cost effective fix?
