E85 for 05 F150 w/5.4Triton?

Can I burn E85 in my 2005 5.4Triton F-150. A couple of local stations are pumping it now at about 30 cents less per gallon that unleaded. Can I???

I don't believe they started offering the flex fuel (Which is what you need to burn E85) until the 06 model year.

No. Ford began F150 FFV production around Dec 05/Jan 06 during the 06 model year.

To check for FFV capability on an 06, check the 8th digit of the VIN. FFV vehicles will have the code of "V" in this position.

ethanol runs like poo.. and take 30% more to make same power as gasoline.. so while yes it may cost a few cents less ur gas milage will drop off 3-4mpg.. mine does with highway driving. normally i get 17 mpg @80mpg on 87octane.. with the E10 blended fuel i get 13-14 on 89 octane and it still pings and runs like crap!. id hate to see the valve train and piston damage i get from running E85 in my engine...
