I located the temp sender on my wife's '97 Expedition, and unplugged the connector, but can't figure out how to remove the sender. The new sender uses a 13/16", but the old one is larger and seems like it's notched and requires a special tool. Anyone? Or am I just crazy

Also, this truck has a remote mounted oil filter, it doesn't screw directly to the block. There's very little clearance to get to the sender

 

nevermind.. figured it out. Seems you have to remove the oil cooler adapter assembly to get the sensor off
