2001 hesitation
2001 hesitation
01 v6 w/5spd with little over 60K and it has a hesitation on acceleration. Like id be in 5th then id give it more gas then and it would start to hesiate and you can feel it kinda being pulled back then it will go. What could be causing it to do this?
Do the easy things first...
It sounds sensor related from what you desribe. Try cleaning your MAF sensor with some CRC "non residual" electrical contact cleaner. Not being pushy or anything, but try doing a search on cleaning MAF sensor and you should be able to find alot of info on how to locate the MAF and clean it.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to clean your IAT sensor that's located on your air tube leading up to the throttle body. Do not touch the sensor part with your fingers. It'll leave oily residue on it, and it will give the ecu a false reading. You just spray it with electrical contact cleaner, let it air dry, and re-install.
Really, it could be anything from what I mentioned, or a bad 02 sensor, a sticking IAC valve, a faulty crankshaft position sensor, etc, etc. "If you have a check engine light", go to Autozone, Advanced, Pep Boys, Oreilly's, etc, to get your trucks computer scanned for trouble codes. Usually it's free.
VALUABLE INFO: A simple search on this website will yeild many clues as to fixing your problems. Just be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "from the beginning" to set the search function so it'll search all the way back through the old posts.
Good luck with it.
Peace...

4.2L doesn't have coils. It has a single coilpack or "electronic distribution block" as I call it, that transmits the spark to all the plugs. And yes, that's a good point Galaxie.
When they get a crack in them, it can cause what he's describing too.
