60k stuff

My '02 FX4 is getting close to 60,000 miles.
What would you guys recommend
getting done besides what it says in the book?
I just put new tires on it. Should I go
ahead and replace the battery, serpentine belt, bulbs, etc.
just to avoid problems.
What about a transmission flush and changing the axle fluids? Should I do that?
I plan on keeping this truck until it falls apart.
Thanks

I just turned 60k on mine and flushed the tranny plus changed the fuel filter. I am gonna get the plugs changed soon. I have not touched the axle fluids and think I will go with the book on those.

60K I would consider changing the plugs. No matter what they say, 100K is way to many miles. Saying 100K keeps the long term maintenence costs down for estimates of maintenence by consumer reports. Definately flush the tranny, change the transfer case fluids. The diffs are good to 100K, or maybe even 150K nowadays I think. Run a Fuel Injection cleaner prior to changing the plugs, it will clean the carbon deposits off the valves first. CHange the fuel filter, and check the coolant. Coolant doens't really go bad based on miles, more based on time and conditions.

Yes, I'd change the serpentine belt out and get a Gatorback belt. I did it a long time ago. It gets rid of the squeal sound under hard acceleration.
