F150 newbie.

Well I have this '02 single cab long bed 4.6L company truck and company gas card (my personal favorite) and I want to make it just a little bit quicker. Just to get a base line I ran a 16.7 @ 80 with a open exhaust after the cats and no air filter. This is just slow as hell to me, but alot of things are compared to my Chevelle but I want to see if I can get it into the low 16's with under 500 bucks. I'm willing to try anything given its not my truck

Im thinking maybe a tuner for starters, any suggestions?

pretty good time for that truck. what gears are in it? id go with a 3.90:1 4.10 is to much and kills highway milage. get some headers. a cheapo ebay intake and a SCT 2 tuner. and youll see a very good gain.

I was thinking that but that would take up all 500 bucks, buying the gears and then having them setup correctly. The truck currently has a 3.55 gear. Would the cheapo intake be much different then the stock air box w/o the filter? What headers would you recommend?
