Mustang parts

How bad would the truck be to drive if you put on a PI intake off a mustang and there cams? I was thinking that there wouldnt be a lot of low end torque. I'm sure some people have done this.

This is for a 2v 4.6

What year? The PI intake from the truck will give you a lot more low end torque. The mustang and truck PI cams are the same profile. So you would gain nothing. Assuming you have a 2003, you wont gain anything by swapping intake manifolds from anything. A nice set of comp cams, or stage II heads would be the way to go.

hmm wow ok, I was trying to find out where the 30 hp less is coming from. The mustang is rated at 260 and this truck has the same parts, so doesnt make much sense.

For the cost of the cams you would be better served by getting a custom tune for your truck.

Yeah if you get cams, a custom tune is a must. Then again, if you got a custom tune, you will gain a lot more hp and torque than adding cams.

Intake manifold, exhaust setup and tunning are where differences are. The truck intake manifold is designed for more low end torque than a car intake manifold is. The Mustang has better flowing exhaust manifolds and a true dual setup where your truck has a single flowing somewhat restrictive exhaust. and the tuning of the truck is set up for better low end power as well.

the non PI truck motors had IMRC which is kinda pwn! its like vtec gives u about a 30HP kick at 3300rpm.

First I've heard of this on on any 2 valve engine. got any pics or diagrams?

haha its nothing special just intake manifold runner controls. it shortens the length of the runners 4 inches and helps top end power.

I know what they are and what they do. i'm familiar with the onces used on the early DOHC 4.6L's. I just wanna see that they are on a truck SOHC 4.6L

azreael344,

You won't find them on your truck. The last year for them on the 4.6 truck engine was 2000. My 4.6 had one. My 5.4 has the valve and is still connected to the 4.6 harness but it is not in the intake manifold.
