Comp cams would be your choice. But you have 2 cams (sohc) You wont gain more than maybe 15hp on stock heads.

If you really wanted to wake your engine up, go with Patriot stage II heads and stage II cams.
If you keep your stock heads, go with these cams:

Here are the patriot heads:

Your really not going to find a better deal than that. This gets expensive. Expect about $400 in gaskets, new head bolts, and a custom tune. Your stock injectors and fuel pump might need upgraded too. Mine did.

What I would do if I were you would be to contact Mike Troyer, Get a custom tune. You will gain more from this than you would with cams, believe it or not. You can ask him to give you like 3 different tunes of your choice on a hand held.

Throttle body's and maf's will gain you more power if you have the need for more air, like supercharged/turbo'd. Im still running the stock MAF, and im pushing over 100hp more than stock. The throttle body will give you better throttle responce. I dont know if he can custom tune with the edge, but ive only seen it done on the xcal II, which is what I have.

Troyer has a dyno in his head, he will be able to do everything over the phone, then send you an xcal II with the tunes installed.

No not at all. It will do more good than harm. He will tune your truck better than when it was new! Your tranny wont get hurt unless YOU hurt it.
