4.6L V8 No power??

My 98 f-150 has the 4.6 v8 and for some reason it has no ***** at all! my dad's f-250 is much heavier and has the 5.4 and the difference is incredible, (a little understandable because of a bigger engine but then again the truck is heavier) and it does burn a little bit of oil, because it sure as heck doesn't lose it, but i don't see any white smoke...anyone have any ideas?

I agree

I also have the 4.6 and it is a little monster, you probably just need a tune up.

The 4.6L is a good engine, but it's pretty gutless compared to the 5.4L. There is a huge difference in power between my '97 SCab 4.6L and any 5.4L I ever owned.

It takes me about 4 hours to change the plugs and wires on a 4.6L. Of course, if you have to break up a lot of crud and blow it out to get to the plugs, it will slow you down. OEM plugs weren't platinum plated on the outside when your engine was made and they are prone to rust/corrode into dust. Even with a tune up, I wouldn't expect any major increase in power.

What gears are in the rearends? I high numeric gear (3.73, 4.10) is going to feel much more peppy than a 3.08 or 3.27. For me, 3.55 is about perfect with 31" tall tires. The height of the tires also effects the effective gear ratio. My 4.6 is not peppy or fast but does fine even pulling about 6000lb. of trailer.
