high mileage

hey guys.. i have a 98 f150 4x4, i bought it at 294,000 kms. i then put a fair amount of mods on it, lift, wheels, tires, exterior, stereo, etc..etc, no drivetrain mods though, and im just kind of worried about it... anyone have any high mileage on theirs??? what worries me is, i changed the oil recently.. and probably 2500kms later, i checked, and it was very low on the dipstick.. so its obviously burning oil, as there is no leaks, but, it doesnt smoke or smell even a tiny bit?? seems weird to me. has lots of power and the trucks in great shape..should i be worried??

oh yeah! check the gallery for pics

hmm sounnds like its running pretty decent! Sounds like maybe a few 10k more miles before it might start giving the problems a ultimatly high miled engine would, but hey keep maintaining it well. It sounds like it was really cared for

yeah it was cared for pretty well, the guy before me had it since new, and drove it to work every day.. which is about a good 75 miles each way

i suppose if it blows.. it can only mean more power when i build

Your post gives me something to look forward to lol - I have the same truck and the motor runs great - lots of power and fun to drive - getting real close to 200k on it.
When I change the oil I put 6 quarts of Castrol 50/50 and a new Motorcraft filter every 3000 miles , been doing it since new and it always showed low on the stick for some reason - right after changing it, but it's never varied or turned black on me, on the stick. Great trucks with AWESOME motor's.

Oh yah, They really go on that 94 octane , best way to warm one up - try it , you'll be hooked lol
