engine acting up!

i have a 97 f150 5.4L and in the morning if i hit the brakes (usualy have to hit the brakes a bit harder then normal stoping) the engine starts to spuder and spit, but if i put it in nutural and rev the RPM's it stops and flys right untill i hit them again. it acts like that untill the engine starts to warm up. thanks for your help.

Change your fuel filter - Seafoam your fuel injectors and upper throttle body - lookup "Seafoam" with the search feature within this forum.

It sounds like there may be a vaccuum leak in brake booster, or the lock-up torque converter is dragging.

A warm engine would have less issues running in a lean condition, as you may have if unmetered air is entering through a vacuum leak.
