What is the Mile-Ton torque requirements for 2006 5.4 Engine

Holy smokes, I went to change my oil for the first time the other day, and the darn oil filter must have been installed and tightened with an adapter and air ratchet before the motor was installed.

I had to use an oil filter wrench with a swivel handle. I had to be under the truck and had one arm up through the other side of the lower support & fan shroud to just get the thing to rotate about 1/32 of an inch each time. It took me more time to get the oil filter off than to drain the oil, fill the oil, and cleanup.

So much for the quick oil change I told my wife. I made sure not to install the new one as tight. I just wanted to make sure I didn't put the same torque into this one as the factory. What a deal.

Anyone else have issues w/ the original oil filter?

Yes there's been a steady flow of posts since I couldn't get filter off my new 99'. Someone said they put them on dry, no lube on rubber ring.
I bet they have never had one pop off

EVERYone else has issues with the factory filter. They run them on dry, and the rubber seal glues itself to the block. As long as you lube the seal on the second one with a little bit of oil, you won;t have that problem the next time around.

I used an oil filter socket type tool to remove my 06 5.4 oil filter. At first it just slipped, then i put a piece of 6 inch 150 grit sandpaper inside it (grit toward the filter) and it came off with moderate effort.

I ran a big flathead screwdriver through mine, makes a nice lever... no slippage, allows a little aggression to come out too.
