Yes, so long as you are using green Ethylene Glycol antifreeze. If you have that orange Dex-cool ****, drain it out, flush your cooling system and refill with the 50/50 green stuff.

I say so as well, it's like going with 10w-30 in older cars, can't loose. Your owners manual goes in great detail about anti-freeze, but point: use 50/50 green and be done.

Around S.W. Mich I can't find 50/50 green in a name Brand (no Zerox).
So I go to the dealer and buy 100% anti-freeze for $12, than it's cheaper than 50/50 for $8

I forget exactly how I flushed the last time, I was inside turning the heat on/off to run through the heater core. My dad took the hose and ran it straight through the stat base (no housing) and out the bottom. Also, it may be easier to have a shop do it. Alls I meant on the 10w-30 is it is so common, like a failsafe oil. In fact, running 5w-20 like the new models is the way to go, thinner oil to the heads faster. I'll still use 5w-30 for piece of mind. Take it ease, ciao!

Be aware that the "green stuff" antifreezes are not the same as they used to be. Prestone changed formulas 2-3 years ago and the new stuff is green but it is NOT the same chemicals and it no longer meets the Ford ESE M97B44-A spec. It may not even be ok to mix them.

It can no longer be said that all green anti-freezes are compatible. Check the specs carefully before you mix them.

I run John Deere +4 (10w30) and my truck doesn't burn it as bad as every other oil I've tried. I used 5w30 one oil change, and it did ok. But not as good as the John Deere oil.

Just my $.02
