Have not seen that problem in the thread(s). There is a problem on the 5.4 L 3-v with plugs failing when removal is attempted.

The blowout doesn't necassarily occur immediately thereafter. In my case, its was over 6 months after I changed the plugs. And then when it did go, I just popped a new one in and it lasted over a year before it went again. There is no method to the madness..........

My number 2 blew out...Luckily I was at a garage when it happened and the plug that blew screwed right back in there...Drove it for several thousand more miles before doing a tune up!! They all came out just fine. But yes, they don't have many threads on them.

F250LD plug change

Does anyone have any hints to ease plug changing on the 5.4 engine? I found it a real chore, especially the left bank rear two plugs. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I pull the front tires and lower the front end down so I reach the back comfortably.

Hope that helps - it's not that bad.

I climb up on the header panel, have a seat and go to work
