Flow Master

I have a issue with carbon build-up in my intake behind the butter-fly in the throttle body... My dealer claims it's due to the low restricted muffler.. claims the system needs back pressure to function properly Any thoughts on this ? it's a 05 F150 4.6L 13K miles.......Thanks----

Well, since it's a SlowMaster, you don't have that particular problem

And, all kidding aside, it's BS.

its bs (they have a "special" coating behind there thats supposed to resist carbon build up) it doesnt work worth crap. just get some seafoam (spray can type) take your intake off and clean it. just let the seafoam evap out the tb for a while before u run it again

I cant believe they told you that... thats just BS. That is from a mixture of the egr, and the pcv system... Nothing to worry about, but it wouldnt hurt to clean it.

I would say BS too, but my throttle started sticking at idle after I had a really bad exhaust leak. It's been sticking ever since, but I feel like the stop screw just needs adjusting. It's probably letting it close too far.

All the Flowmasters being run, you would think this would be a common problem. I have 33,300 on mine with no such problem. Wait, maybe that is why the dealer had to replace my throttle body at 1600 miles. Sure glad he didn't see the Flowmaster!

It's a waste of time. It doesn't decrease fuel economy. And it doesn't decrease power. If you disable it, it will increase the engine's harmful emmissions output at cruise, so why bother?

ofcoarse the techs at a dealer will hate your cool mods and say anything to possibly make you remove it, especially if your truck is better than theirs
EGR better leave alone it will smell terrible when you fly by someone

+1. I removed my EGR system on my 00 Lightning and it didn't smell at all. I did see a 1 mpg drop on highway miles. The EGR is only used to pump a bit of exhaust gas in the cylinder to cool the temp a few degrees. Supposedly giving you better gas mileage.

Mine smells like raw fuel when it's idling.
