If you want to stop burning that quart of oil between changes, reduce your interval to 3000 miles. If you don't want to do that, there is no remedy. The high mileage vehicle oil contains special additives that aid in expanding (ever-so-slightly) the seals in your engine. This aids in preventing leaks from gaskets and adds more internal protection. However, its only available in semi-synthetic as far as I know, and you are already using the best for your engine. So, either reduce intervals, or just learn to love ford engine oil consumption.

1 quart every 6000 miles isn't that bad. How many miles are on your truck?

Don't waste your money. I wish my 4.6 only burned one quart every 6K. That's nothing on these motors. Many people report higher consumption with Mobil 1. Mine burns one quart every 3K no matter what oil I use. Stick with the Mobil 1.

just lettin you know.

i have a 97 with the 4.6(W) it has 140,000 miles. I never changed the plugs and just recently in the last few months had to do any repair work other than brakes (alt., starter). I never put plugs in yet(I am doin that this week or next). I only had to add oil in it one time and thats cause I stupidly didnt tighten the oil filter enough and lost some then. It doesnt burn any and its never low. I change the oil between 3500 and 4000 miles regularly and I use Castrol oil. She runs great(other than the little loss in acceleration from needin plugs I think)I used to use the semi syn. but now just the regular. I usually use 10w30. Does anyone think thats ok? Cause I have noticed most people are sayin on here they do use the 5w20 or 30.
