EGR problem

So I took my EGR valve off to clean the port out and noticed that the tube that connects to the back of it and down on the manifold has completely broke away from the manifold. What will happen if I continue to run it like this until I am able to fix it? and also is it an easy fix? looks pretty corroded down there. also it isnt throwing any codes and it idles a bit rough. would it be ok do you think? thanks for the help

The engine probably runs a bit rough due to the exhaust leak you now have under the hood. You'll lose some exhaust back pressure, and some horse power until it gets fixed, but it won't really hurt anything. I would keep an eye on the engine bay to make sure nothing is getting burned by the exhaust. Just be careful not to drive around with the windows rolled up while you have the leak.

As far as the EGR system goes, the engine should run just fine without it working. You'll lose a few MPG (maybe).

worland...thanks for the info. I was curious though what you think about repairing it very cheaply for now. I saw at the auto parts store they have this red exhaust leak (tape i guess) that you wrap around exhaust pipes and then wrap the wire it comes with around that. then when you drive it i guess it seals up or hardens a bit. do you think that would be ok for now? thanks again

even with the rust, mine was easy to take off/reinstall.just squirted some wd-40 on it and even used an adjustable wrench to take it off and it came off fine
