Throttle body

Throttle body

I have a 05 F150 4.6L W/13K miles... and have black crap in my throttle body... runs fine and no codes in system... anyone have any ideas??

Clean it... No matter what people say about the factory coating... if its dirty, clean it, its no different than a port and polished throttle body. Now if your asking where the crap is coming from, its from the lines running from your valve cover to the intake, sucking oil vaports in.

I concur, however, make sure you use throttle body cleaner, not carb/choke cleaner. Don't want to angry the truck gods.....

The line from the valve cover comes in between the filter and the throttle body..... all is clean and dry.. the black crap is behind the butterfly in the throttle body... the only thing I see it might come in through the egr valve... the goo is moist-like oily crap....it doesn't use oil and oil has been changed every 2K miles.... my dealer only has PUNK-*** kids working there and they have no idea.... what a deal! Just don't seem right... to have this at this low miles......

Carbon build-up. Pretty common with the 4six's.
