F150 and Displacement on Demand?

Hello all,

Any rumors on if Ford has any plans of offering a similar engine that Chevy/GMC and Dodge has. By that I mean the Displacement on Demand. While cruising on the highway half the cylinders shot off thereby increasing one's fuel economy.

Thanks
David

Be patient, even though you shouldn't be because it's getting too late. You'll probably see something similar shortly. I've heard the rumours too and it looks promising.

Thanks.

But it sure is hard waiting. I have never seen a better time to buy a new vehicle. Thousands and thousands off MSRP and 0%.

One can easily find a 40,000 truck for 30,000 and walk away with payments for $416.00.

Regards,
David

I wonder if it's as simple as a reprogram? Ford V8's will already go into an 4 cyl mode when you lose the cooling system. Can't be that far fetched to kick it in when at highway speeds.

Ya, no kidding, I would love something new and getting it cheap definetely doesn't hurt, but the catch 22 is I need a job to pay for it. I build the 5.4 that goes into them and as the media announced big layoffs. Too little too late for MDS and the Hurricane etc. Great ideas that from what I hear aren't totally eliminated. They have to fix gas consumption issues obviously because oil companies are raping us and will continue to get away with it. And for those who enjoy power, love Ford and can't get a Lightning anymore and don't care about gas prices too much they need a Hurricane like product. That's right up my alley. At least give them the option to have a hot rod, and get moving on getting people to buy V-8's again.
