5.4 swap advice

have a 91 lariat that i'm wanting to do a lightning swap with. current motor is the I6 4.9L with a bunch of room left over. i found an 04 5.4 3V for a decent price and was wondering if the stock eaton on the lighting motor will work on this one? if not, what should i be looking for. i know the 2V lightning motor has them, but the price is killing me. trying to see if i can piece one together for a better price (to top if off the 3V only has 1000 miles on it and it is complete for $1600).

any advice is appreciated,
Gus

No, the eaton fits only the 2v engines.... You will need the complete wiring harness, transmission, and pcm, and lots of custom work ie: instrument cluster, fuel system, etc. to get it to work.

Another thing you might want to think about is the fact that your truck is a 1991 - which is the previous generation vehicle. It's tough enough swapping a 4.2 to a 4.6 or a 5.4 (all modular motors) within the 1997 - 2003 vintage. you're going to have some significant headaches with this one - paricularly with the wiring. good luck!

the motor that is currently in there is a 4.9L and it is a pretty hefty size but with a massive amount of leftover room. the only thing i thought might be a headache are the motor mounts. but i could be wrong. it sure would be a sweet swap. hopefully we can get it to work.
