V6 misses trouble code...
V6 misses trouble code...
Trouble code says excessive EGR flow
1.Engine has an intermittent miss.
2.I was thinking it was plug wires because miss can become ecsessive when driving in rain aka wet plug wires.
3.The missing was occurring for about two weeks before any trouble codes lit up
4. This truck has 75,000 miles on it
5. It is a 2002 f-150 xlt 2wd manual trans with a 4.2lt v6
6. There has been no work performed on this engine, other than the 1 or two recall items.
7. The factory plugs are mcraft platinum AGSF 34EM. these exact plugs are not readily available.
Where would you start?
How in the world do you get the wires back behind the intake?
What plugs should replace the factory plugs?
I pulled the #4(drverside front) plug and it has a gap of .07, seems excessive to me. Is it?
Thanks for the help in advance

While you probably do need new plugs (look up correct and current at www.motorcraft.com), they (and the misfire) are not the cause of your reported code.
Presuming a P0402, most likely a DPFE sensor. Further diagnostic work is suggested unless you want to toss the dice.
Steve
PS. ALWAYS post the exact code, not its description.

thanks
I took the truck to Auotzone and never actually saw the code, big mistake, it has cleared though.
I'll start with the plugs. I wish i had a dealer i could trust. I wouldn't mind taking it in but they like to gig you when you give them the oppourtunity.

Trouble Code Po4o2
You were right and from what I have gathered so far, everything I thought I knew about engines is just enough to get me in trouble these days. I'll figure it out and I'll save money over going back to the dealer I may not save time but I'll get that back in knowledge and satisfaction. I just spent and hour reading an OBD system operation summary. That was enlightening! I didn't know what stoichiometry was until 10 minutes ago.
Anyway thanks for the heads up and and information you can shed my way is apreciated.
