Remote oil filter leak...help?

My factory remote oil filter lines are leaking, and thaks to ford they are a special part forcing me to buy the parts from them. $200 for a hose is a little obserd in my opinion. So my question is has anybody found a cheaper fix? or has anybody removed the remote filter and just put the filter on the block? I was thinking of doing this but I want to make sure it's possible. My truck is a 98 4X4 super cab 4.6

I called my local dealer and the price on the new lines is $357 CDN this is way to much for a couple of hydraulic lines. When I got home from work I took a quick look under the truck and the leak is not too bad, but I do want to wait until winter and have a real problem. It didn't look to hard to remove the lines at the block, but I'd like to hear some feedback before I dig in and create any more problems.

Find a place that makes hydraulic lines. They should be able to fab up a set for you, and at a fraction of the cost.
