Sudden stall on 5.4
Sudden stall on 5.4
My 99 F150 with a 5.4 and 176k on it has taken up stalling on me. It's not a slow, sputter, you know it's coming stall. It's a running down the highway and then nothing kind of stall. Pop it in neutral and crank it a couple times and it starts up. Sometimes it happens while just sitting in park. Granted it doesn't get run much, but it does get driven some. It doesn't through a code when it does it either. First guess to me is fuel filter or pump. I took it to work a while ago (120 miles round trip) and it did it right in my sub about 4 houses down, then again about a mile away. The second time it didn't want to restart and I let it set a couple minutes before it fired up. Then it ran the other 120 miles with no issues. I drove it to get some chairs from a rental place and it ran fine there and back. Probably 60 miles or so. My wife went to return them 2 days later (and on different gas) it stalled 2 x's for her (on the freeway in a construction zone...oh was I unpopular....)
It's had all general maintenance done regularly. The fuel filter is probably 2 years old but it might only have 15k on it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? BTW it's chipped and I'm running premium. Thanks in advance.
