4.6L Spark Plug Change Question

I was looking at changing my plugs on the 2002 4.6L v8 and on the right side of the motor(looking from the front) there is a tube running over top that connects into 4 "things" that go into the block by each plug. This tube seems to be in the way of the 3rd plug back and i was wondering what is this tube for? and also can i disconect it easily?

anyone out there familiar with this that can give me some advise?

Thanks,

Derek

The tube is the fuel rail for the injectors.
Take the mounting bolts out so the rail will move a bit without taking them off the injectors.
The plug hardware will be able to get by.
The job is not as hard as it looks.
Use a rubber hose section over the plugs to get them out after loosening and start the new plugs in place.
Silicone the plug boots and the upper seal areas where they seal against the valve cover so you get a water seal.

I take it you know about the deficit of plug threads in the heads? If not I’d read about up the procedure for changing the plugs. i.e. Amount of torque to use, whether or not to use anti-seize, ec. ec. ad nauseum.

Not the silicone used in bathrooms or hollywood celebrity chests. It's called dielectric grease or sparkplug grease. Usually found in a small tube next to the glue/sealants or at the front counter in those little packets.
