P0401

What do you do to fix this? it is a Exhaust Gas Flow Insufficient Detected. I also used one code reader and it gave me that and a cylinder 8 miss fire then i used a nother code reader and it gave me a cylinder 3 miss fire a P1000 and a P1260 code which do i believe.

and is it true that ford is getting closer to admitting their fault on the 5.4 motor?

Yep, he is right, no cap rotor or wires.... $100 per cylinder for new coil pack, 8 packs = $800 tune up.

They dont go bad often. They are no longer a wear item and get a hotter faster spark with less energy required.

A mis fire with Exhaust Gas Flow Insufficient Detected. Says to me that it's running lean, that cylinder isn't getting any gas. Try the injector. I'd think that if it was no spark and still getting fuel then it would be Exessive exhaust gas flow.

I dont know for sure, I'm not a mechanic nor an expert, but thats my interpretaion.

If your engine is not missing, then disregard the misfire codes for now. I just fixed a misfire problem on my truck this weekend. YOU WILL KNOW if it is misfiring…Runs like crap.

If that is the case concentrate on the P401 (EGR) code.

That code tells you that there is no EGR flow. I have had this problem twice. The most likely suspect is the DPFE sensor. The next one is EGR solenoid, then the EGR valve.

Things to look for BEFORE you spend money:

Do you have good vacuum to the EGR Solenoid and EGR Valve?
Are your EGR ports in the intake plenum plugged?
Are one or both exhaust tubes to the DPFE sensor plugged?

Try those first.
