$4000

Well I am gettin ready to sell a few things, and if I get what I want fopr them I should have around $4000.

I don't really want to get a supercharger for gas purposes, but I do want to get headers, Xcal2, Underdrive pulleys, bigger throttle body and a spacer. also an Escort 8500 X50. which all amounts to prob a lil over 2000. any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.

With that kind of budget, you could add in hi-flo cats and cat-back exhaust.
Some other things to do would be E-fans, cold-air intake, new wheels and tires...and probably still have some left over, depending on how much you spend on wheels and tires.

Talking

Skip the spacer...I wasted $80 on one last year. Shame I didn't know about this site before. Wonder what I could get for that overpriced paper weight on ebay?

Skip the TB, and just port and polish your own. Save yourself $200.

Skip everything. If you are worried about a supercharger costing gas, then save the money for gas. I have seen many times where people spend all their money on mods and then have to sell the truck to save a few bucks on gas. I only say this because of the comment about the gas being a concern.

If I had 4Grand to spend on my trucks performance this is the route I would take:

AF1 Intake
Troyer Xcal II
Magnaflow exhaust system
Shift Kit for the tranny
Efans
U-D pulleys
Dynatech header system
Ported and Polished heads
4.10 gears

Main things I would go for there, that will probably eat up the 4 grand there.
Also port and polish the stock TB and intake elbow, and mentioned before.

Anywho, thats how I would do it if it were my truck

Hmm, Bartak makes a good point, I forgot about heads. What year is your truck? If it's a pre-99, you could pick up a good bit of power by swapping to some PI heads.

Supercharge it. Your fuel economy wouldn't be any worse than with the other mods. When I put the supercharger on my '98 with the 4.6, I saw an increase in fuel economy under certian conditions.

I think a supercharger and Troyer tuned XCAL2 are the way to go.

Probably get back less than 20% of what you spend on your mods when you sell the truck. Other than Supercharging I would not believe half of what the manufacturers of all that stuff promise in HP gains. Conservatively invest the $4,000
